Rides with Squirrels

Today is over 100 degrees and a heat index of 110. I got home somewhat early so I took my touring bike to the shop and did my wet weather maintenance on its bottom bracket. Afterwards Brian and I went for a ride in the crazy heat- but it wasn't so bad. We did an easy 13. On the way back a squirrel came from the left and was running right for my front wheel. Brian was on my right so all I could do was hold my line and wait to see what happens- don't panic. Brian watched the squirrel run between my two wheels, (at 24 MPH) run under me for way longer than i thought possible and then dashed off to the right to safety. Crazy. If i didn't have another witness I wouldn't have believed it myself.
