Springing

This week has been good so far. Sunday was windy during the day, but brian and I went for a ride after he got off from work. I rode to the shop and then we rode chestnut fork and left to alanthus. Back to the house after the sun set. Monday I had to pick up my forks at the bike shop and my Pitamakin photo at the frame shop so I forgot my running shoes. I was running out of light so i went anyway and ran barefoot. It was slow going in the woods and hard on my arches at times but fun and with the 50 degree weather it was pretty good weather for barefoot. The ground was soft and hitting mud patches was cool. Today when I got home Sally has just pulled in before me and we went and did a loop on the bikes, about nine miles and got home just before dark. Almost 60 degrees today and great weather for a ride..

Goals

I have a lot reasons to get in shape for the spring, the first is a possible DH race in South Carolina on March 5th. Tuesday I ran stairs at my house for 25 mins and it really works my calves. Yesterday I did "rolling hills" on the ellipitical which was also pretty good but about as exciting as this post.

First Cold Ride of Spring

Yesterday was Superbowl Sunday, but more importantly, it was 50 degrees outside.
Bobby got a ride together out of Brandy (a mile from my house) so i rode over. I didn't time it well and went outside to get my bike and my road bike had no pedals and no front wheel. I had to go so (they will leave you behind if you are a second late)i jumped on my fixie (Raleigh) and took off. More people turned up than I expected but (given its relaxed pace) I was not only able to keep pace but set it at times. Ended up doing about 28 miles around Kelly's Ford.
